WHETHER you're just new in the office or you're about to leave there, most colleagues will tease you to give them a treat. So if you're anxious about it, here are the following suggestions on how to avoid spending your budget to them.
- SMILE
It's a vague response yet actually a safe one. Let's just say its a polite way to tell them that you may (or not) fall on their trap.
- GIVE THEM A VALID REASON
Tell them you have priorities. Don't be carried away when they said you can afford to it. Keep in mind that if your really rich, you'll buy the company and be their boss. Say you need it for your bills, you're saving for something or if you have a sibling, tell them you're shouldering their expenses etc. Just make sure to tell it in a nice way.
- IGNORE
If the first two didn't work, this is your last option. Don't mind it to too much when they demand for it, remember that you're also a common employee like them. Ignore and move on.
Bare in mind that you don't need to treat them just for them to like you. They should like you for who you are and not because they benefit from you.
